 Ginger Osborn (Ph.D., Vanderbilt University)

Assistant Professor of Philosophy.

 
Specialization: Analytical Philosophy, Epistemology, Philosophy of Law, Political Philosophy,
Philosophy and Feminism. Prof. Osborn holds a law degree and she came to Belmont from the firm of
King, Ballow & Little, where she was practicing first amendment law. She taught philosophy for 12
years at Harpeth Hall School, an elite college prep school in Nashville. Her work in the philosophy of
law includes the right to privacy, academic freedom, and political correctness. She teaches the course
Philosophy and Feminism which appeals to students across the University. Prof. Osborn writes poetry
avocationally and reads Spanish philosophy, especially the work of Jose Ortega y Gasset.
Prof.Osborn's dissertation includes her own translation of Plato's Lysis. Dr. Osborn was the 1995-96
recipient of the Chaney Distinguished Professor award at Belmont in recognition of her outstanding
teaching.

Dr. Osborn's office is located in Fidelity Hall, Room 313B.
