A member of the Turtle Island String Quartet from 1992 to 2003, Danny Seidenberg, has enjoyed a varied and eclectic musical life. He made his solo viola debut at age 16 with the Pittsburgh Symphony as part of their Young People’s Concert series, then went to on the Juilliard School and a professional tenure in New York. Among the groups he performed there with are American Ballet Theater, New York City Opera, American Symphony Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, Orchestra of St. Lukes, New York City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Philharmonia Virtuosi, Solisti New York, Dance Theater of Harlem, Soviet Emigre Orchestra, New York Virtuosi, Radio City Music Hall, many Broadway shows and multifarious chamber music. Danny is a performer, composer, arranger, clinician and jazz educator of international stature. He has toured, performed and recorded with Steve Reich, the Village People, Liza Minelli, Tony Bennett, James Brown, Richie Havens, Led Zeppelin, Black Eyed Peas, Smokey Robinson, recorded with his own progressive rock group "Spy" for CBS Records, improvisational jazz-fusion with "Szobel" for Arista Records, and original music for Windham Hill.  Danny is also an accomplished pianist, performs extensively as a violinist as well, and as an early instrument specialist with groups including the Grande Bande, American Bach Soloists, Classical Bande, LA Baroque, and Musica Angelica. With the Turtle Island SQ there is a discography of some 15 recordings and countless major venue appearances throughout the world. On the teaching side Danny was in residence at the Henry Mancini Institute (UCLA) through 2006, and has also been an instructor at the University of Massachusetts and Stanford in their jazz studies departments. His ‘Winter Variations’ earned a German Grammy nomination in 1997 and was performed by the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2001 he was commissioned by the New Century Chamber Orchestra and Paul McCartney to do a treatment of the Beatles ‘Oh Darling’. His ‘Creation Du Monde’ of Darius Milhaud arrangement appears on the 2006 TISQ Grammy winning recording, and in 2007 provided the orchestrations for the feature film ‘Asylum’. Danny is a regular performer on all kinds of film and TV scores, both as orchestra player and improvisational soloist. He performs with the legendary 70’s progressive rock band ‘Pavlov’s Dog’ and with his new trio, the ‘UnBande’ (2 violas and the Chapman Stick). In Los Angeles he also worked with the LA Opera, LA Chamber Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and was principal viola of the Pasadena Pops.  Danny lives in Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles, CA. www.dannyseidenberg.com
