Paul Gambill’s inspiring conducting and artistic leadership has led the Nashville Chamber Orchestra (NCO) to be regarded as one of the most creative and exciting orchestras on the scene today. Since his critically acclaimed debut with the NCO on Warner Brothers Records in 1997, Mr. Gambill has recorded for NAXOS, Angel, Albany, Alabaster and Almanac Records. During his tenure with the NCO he has commissioned and premiered 32 works from American composers that cross all musical boundaries while challenging audiences’ and musicians’ expectations of what a chamber orchestra can be. In 2000 he was selected from a national search as one of ten conductors to participate in the National Conducting Institute, an intensive three-week program created by Leonard Slatkin and the National Symphony for “the development of highly gifted, emerging conductors.” Mr. Gambill is also music director of the Nashville Ballet.
