Homage to Dottie mixed-media 14" x 11" Introduction: center>
I am a Professor of Art at a small university in Nashville, Tennessee. I have been a practicing artist for over 40 years, primarily creating paintings, drawings, and mixed-media pieces. I taught design, drawing, painting, art education, and art appreciation in South Carolina from 1979-82; design, drawing, painting, art education, and art appreciation in Georgia from 1982-86; design, drawing, painting, ceramics, art education, art appreciation, and art history in West Virginia from 1986-92; and since 1992 I have been teaching in Nashville--ceramics from 1992-96, and painting since 1996 - I also occasionally teach drawing and mixed-media painting. I earned my B.A. degree in Art from Florida Southern College (1976) and my M.F.A. in Visual Studies (emphasis in Painting) from Clemson University (1979). I also attended Ringling School of Art from 1967-69. I would also like to hear from people who attended Ringling School of Art between 1967 and 1969, Florida Southern College between 1974 and 1976, and Clemson University between 1977 and 1979. I would love to reminisce with anyone who spent a semester in Genoa, Italy, while attending graduate school at Clemson (whether you were in art, architecture, or whatever--I was in Genoa during the Spring semester of 1978). I grew up in Lakeland, Florida, and would like to hear from people who live or lived there (my parents moved to Lakeland in 1954 when I was five years old; I left in December of 1976 to attend graduate school at Clemson). If you attended Webster Avenue Elementary (now gone-- I was there from 1955-61), Lakeland Jr. High (now gone--I was there from 1961-64), or Kathleen Sr. High (I was there from 1964-67) in Lakeland I would love to hear from you.
I am available for drawing and painting workshops, to jury student, amateur, and professional art competitions (I have juried shows at all levels in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia, and Tennessee), and for consulting on most art related matters including college art curriculum revision/writing.
