STUDENT SESSION POLICIES

For class projects, students will be granted the time as stated in the syllabus.

 

For non-class projects, the studios are available for Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business approved audio engineering staff (student, faculty, and full-time) Monday through Friday from 9am to 5:00 pm.  All sessions are booked on a daily basis and are limited to eight (8) hours maximum (including breaks).  Weekends are reserved for class project recordings.

 

Please note: session blocks include setup and teardown.

 

 

STUDENT STAFF ENGINEERS

A Student Staff Engineer will always be present to help any student booking time at Ocean Way. When a student books a session, they will be given the name of the Student Staff Engineer assigned to the session. There are three Student Staff Engineers for this semester. Their names and contact info are below:

SESSION BOOKING

In order to book a session, you must turn in a Student Booking Request Form (click the link to download it). Once completed, it must be emailed to jmckeown@oceanwaynashville.com   for approval. 

*Ocean Way Studios reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule any session on an as needed basis (e.g., maintenance emergency, professional client requests, class or institutional requests).*

 

The names of all session attendees must be provided.  Two guests are allowed per session. No drop-ins are allowed.

 

 

SESSION TIMES

Standard session times are scheduled as follows:

*NOTE: The first and last hour of each session are dedicated to setup and teardown with no admittance before start time.  

9am-5pm (8 hours)

5pm-1am (8 hours)

 

Class project session times will be booked based on the time allocated in the class syllabus.

 


EQUIPMENT
For all
Classes/Student Engineers, equipment is subject to availability. 

-         Pro-Tools HD rigs are the "standard" option for student sessions.  Analog 2-inch machines are also available.

-         Students are required to bring their own media (hard-drives, CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, analog tape, etc). Please do not create/utilize sessions on the internal hard drives of the HD rigs. Media cannot be left and stored at the facility between sessions.

-         For approved student projects, all microphones are available for use except the Neuman M-50s, AKG C-12s, Telefunken ELAM 251s, U47s, M49s, or RCA 77s.

 

SESSION CHECK-IN GUIDELINES

Before your session, you must come to the front desk to sign in and meet your student engineer.  Please do not begin your session until the Student Staff Engineer arrives.

 

Work orders will be handed out by the on-staff engineer and must be turned in at the end of the session.

 

 

CONDUCT GUIDELINES

No alcohol may be brought on the premises.  Any food and drink must be provided by the student.  Food is allowed in the lounges only.  All session personnel are limited to the studio, control, and lounge space allocated for that session.

You are required to leave the rooms in the same condition you began your session with.  The rooms will be inspected before you leave and you will be responsible for anything broken or missing and will need to clean further if you fail inspection.

Student parking for Ocean Way is located on 16th St next to the Scientology Celebrity Center.

If you are leaving a session and are uncomfortable/afraid of walking to the satellite parking lot, please call campus security at 460-6617 for an escort to your car.
