Course Description:

 

This senior “capstone experience” will contain an in-depth application of audio engineering knowledge and experience including an investigation of the student’s personal experiences, opportunities, ambitions, anticipated career, and life objectives in light of the “world” or “global” influence of the audio engineering industry. The course comprises a review, research, and preparation towards the development and completion of an applied project. The instructor will guide the student to develop a unique and novel application as applied to his/her interests and the practice of audio engineering. The Senior Practicum may be taken during the final two semesters, Fall or Spring before graduation. Pass/Fail only.

 

Course Outcomes: At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

 

¦  integrate learning through reflective analysis of his/her collegiate experiences

¦  assess her/his role in the world in the light of her/his academic, social, and spiritual development at Belmont University

¦  contribute to his/her community through service learning activities

 

 

Performance Tasks:  During this course, the student will:

 

¦  present oral and written reflections based on class activities

¦  create and present group PowerPoint presentations of selected developmental topics

¦  communicate a summary of her/his Belmont experiences

¦  plan, conduct, and conclude a service learning project utilizing skills developed in audio engineering

¦  employ leadership skills pertinent to the service learning project as well as class presentations

 

Assessment Tools: During this course, outcomes mastery will be evaluated by:

¦  final exam

Questions about students’ Belmont experiences to insure that they have reflected on their college development, their future career paths, and to gain feedback of Belmont’s level of effectiveness.

Attendance & Participation:  Class attendance follows university policy as stated in the current Undergraduate Bulletin.  Class participation is expected; attendance and absence will be noted.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey, Free Press.

Students will also use handouts, trade magazines, and Internet-based resources as specified by the Instructor.
