APPLICATION
DEADLINE:
All materials must be
submitted by 4:00pm on Friday, January 16th, 2009.

PURPOSE:
To
provide an opportunity for aspiring songwriters to showcase their work
before
peers and industry professionals.
ELIGIBILITY/REQUIREMENTS:
- Songwriter must be a full-time
Belmont University student in either an undergraduate or graduate
program.
- A songwriter may only
participate in one ASCAP Writers Night per academic year. If you are
not selected to perform in the Fall semester, you may re-apply in the
Spring.
- Seniors graduating in December
may participate in the ASCAP Writers Night Series during the fall
semester only and if selected as the winner, will perform in the Best
of the Best showcase in April.
- Artists in the ASCAP Writers
Night Series are not allowed any band members/supporting
acts/accompanists during the show.
- Students that are chosen to
participate in the ASCAP Writers Night Series will be required to have
a headshot taken by a CEMB Photographer on the date set by the Series
Producer.
- If you are selected as the
winner of an ASCAP Writers Night and a CEMB Showcase, you will only be
allowed one performance in the Best of the Best Showcase.

Meet
the deadline for completion of audition materials—Friday, January 16th
by 4:00 pm.
SONG
MATERIAL:
Material
selected for the audition must be material suitable for a Belmont
University
audience. Lyric content, audience filler
material, language and dress attire (shirts, pants, etc.) must be of
the
highest professional quality. Producers
reserve the right to disallow any “material” deemed offensive and
inappropriate. Understand that
violations of this guideline might result in disqualification.
JUDGING
FOR THE AUDITIONS AND SHOWCASE:
- A panel of judges will choose
the top nine acts. Results will be emailed to the nine students. These nine acts will then perform at one of
the three ASCAP Writers Nights during the Fall Semester.
If chosen, you will be required to play on the night
assigned to you. Keep all dates open until
the final schedule is announced.
- Judges for the auditions will
consist of music industry professionals.
- The judges will select the
artists for the actual ASCAP Writers Night. The judges have the right
to suggest the arrangement of the showcases as well as the number of
acts actually selected for the showcase.
DAY
OF SHOW (THE PERFORMANCE):
- Each artist should plan on
being at the venue BY 4:30 PM THE DAY OF SHOW.
- Each artist will perform three
songs during the ASCAP Writers Night.
- The show will be judged by
industry professionals and one winner will be chosen.
- Student-run sound
reinforcement and production will be provided. However, instruments,
cords, and amps are to be brought by each musician.
- ANY CHANGES THAT MIGHT OCCUR
NEED APPROVAL FROM THE PRODUCER.
