Selection Process:
The Belmont
East/West programs are high-profile highly
competitive programs that require an interview process during which
applicants
will be evaluated on attributes such as attitude, maturity,
professionalism,
and the potential to be a “team player.”
A
selection committee within the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and
Music
Business will interview all applicants. Information
on file in an applicant’s student record will also be considered,
including but
not limited to, involvement in the Mike Curb College of Entertainment
and Music
Business clubs/organizations, comments of support or concern by faculty
and
staff, and disciplinary offenses.
Each
selection committee member will assess and state whether or not s/he
recommends
support or opposition to an applicant's acceptance into the
program.
Based on those reports, an applicant may or may not be admitted into
the
program. Because of the nature of these programs (i.e. remote
location,
representation of the institution in a high-profile setting, the need
for
participants to be mature and self-motivated, etc.), acceptance into
the
program is not guaranteed and is based to a large extent on the
interviewers'
support or opposition. The selection committee will provide
written
recommendations for participation or denial to the Dean of the Mike
Curb
College of Entertainment and Music Business.
The
Dean of the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business
reserves the
right to make the final determination of acceptance into the Belmont
East/West
external programs.
