No, you do not need to take classes or be working in order to sign-up for summer housing, but you must be enrolled in classes for the fall semester, unless you are graduating during the summer. During the summer terms you continue to be responsible for policies stated in The Bruin Guide, Belmont University’s student handbook, as well as the content of the Handbook to Residential Living, and the terms of the Summer Housing Agreement (on the reverse of this application). The judicial process remains in effect during summer terms.

When will I know my summer housing assignment? The first round of housing assignments will be made by April 24th. After that point assignments are made as applications are received. Applications will be accepted until May 15th.

What if my plans should change and I need to cancel? There is no penalty for cancelation up until June 6th. After June 6th, students may cancel but you will not receive any refund of summer charges.

When may I move in for the summer?

Interim housing students will remain in their current assignment until Tuesday, May 19th and will have until 5pm on that day to move into their summer assignment. Additional information will be sent to each student prior to his/her check-in date

Can I live in my fall assignment for the summer?

We will attempt to place as many students as possible in their permanent fall assignment for the summer. There are two notable exceptions to this practice. The first is that some blocks of apartments may be unavailable for summer housing because maintenance renovations to be undertaken during the summer. Currently, the 2100 and 2200 buildings in the Hillside and all of Bruin Hills will be unavailable for the entire summer. The other exception will be for students graduating in August. These students will be allowed to remain in their same spring apartment for the summer provided that their apartment is not subject to the first exception. Students who will live in those same apartment spaces for the fall semester, will be assigned a different summer apartment space.

In addition, when possible, we will attempt to assign temporary summer apartment residents around those residents in permanently assigned spaces for the fall. Factors used to determine summer assignments include maximizing the safety and security of a complex, scheduled summer maintenance and cleaning, maximizing community development, and minimizing the utility costs of summer housing. The Office of Residence Life reserves the right to make changes to summer housing assignments as needed.
